Woke up early.....on a Saturday morning. WHY? Well, you see, dear and I volunteered to help out at PAWS' booth at The Malaysian International Cats Show held at Hall A,Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). Basically, its an international cat show kinda thing which I went today and am gonna go tomorrow (cat lovers, be sure to drop in) to help out at PAWS' booth. What PAWS is trying to do is to get people to adopt a cat, purchase their merchandises and of course donate to their shelter. At lunch at Sri Petaling and went straight there. Reached at around 1pm and met up with other volunteers at the booth. Apparently, these volunteers have been at PAWS the whole week and decided to help during the weekend as well. They are vet students doing their assignments. Thanks to them, PAWS have more helping hands at the booth. If it wasn't for them, it would have been only me and dear helping out at the booth.

If you DON'T know what PAWs is, I guess i'll have to tell you. PAWS or PAWS Animal Welfare Society, is basically a shelter set up to help abandoned and unwanted animals (sad right?). What they do is they will care for these animals until a kind-hearted animal lover comes to adopt them. Well, you could reach them at:

Ok, now back to the cat shows. Well, it is what it is, a CAT SHOW. Brief introduction about this whole event:

MyCATs 2010 Malaysia International Cat Show is a CFA certified cat show and complemented by an exhibition on products and services related to the petting industry specifically to cats. The MyCATs event will be positioned as an annual event in Malaysia (so look out for it every year) to further promote the growth of this industry and strengthen the event regionally. (they need YOUR support!)

At this event, there will be:
- Participation by more than 200 cats worldwide
- Junior Showmanship Program
- Celebrity Showmanship and Competition
- Part of the CFA circuit title race
- Demonstrations and talks by international experts
- Exhibition on cat products and accessories

So,what is their objective to have such an event?

- To attract cat fanciers from all over the world to experience the Malaysian Culture
- To generate greater interest in the well being and welfare of pedigree and household cats
- To provide an opportunity for visitors to experience various cat breeds of exceptional standards

Today, they have exhibition form 9.00am to 7.00pm and Cats Judging & Competition from 12.00pm to 6.oopm. There are several booths outside the hall where you can buy animal merchandises (mainly for cats) and perhaps adopt a cat:

PAWS is trying really hard to get people to adopt more cats as they need a proper home and be loved. There's a certain adoption fee for the cats : RM 30 for adults, RM 50 for kittens and RM 400 for the persian cat. All cats are vaccinated, neutered and dewormed. All the fund will go to the maintaining the shelter and feeding the cats. Take a look at some of the cats up for adoption (there'll be more tomorrow):

There was another booth putting cats up for adoption too. Their adoption fee is RM 150. Also all stray cats which have been rescued. All also vaccinated, neutered and dewormed. For more information on their cats, feel free to go to their show at:

Every now and then, had some free time to roam around the place and let other volunteers take care of the booth. So I whip out my camera and when into to hall to take some pictures. The judging was underway so I snap a few shots of the judges with the participating cats and also participating cats which are resting:

Well then, back to PAWS. At the end of day 1, manage to get 8 cats adopted out. Hopefully tomorrow more people will adopt. Sold some car stickers, umbrellas, t-shirts and stuff. All PAWS merchandises. Myself, I bought their cap =D and bought 2 collars from the next bought for my 2 cats at home. Nearing 6pm, was time for us to pack up and call it a day. Despite being hungry (stupid cafeteria closed during weekends) dear and I stayed back awhile longer to take more pictures of cats:

There you have it. All in day 1. Hope that got y'all pumped up to come see the show. Do drop by on the last day tomorrow to check out the event. Only Rm5 for adults and children for free. Its a Sunday, so get out and come over to see the event, buy some merchandises and adopt a cat. Tomorrows show schedule will be the exhibition 9.00am to 7.00pm, Junior Showmanship Program 12.00pm to 2.00m, Cats Judging & Competition 12.00pm to 5.00pm and Best of the Best Competition (must not miss) 5pm to 7pm.
